How is this different from § 16d classic qualification stays?

Classic § 16d requires a recognition notice (deficit notice) BEFORE the visa. The partnership lets you skip that wait and start the whole procedure from inside Germany while working.

What work am I allowed to do meanwhile?

Qualified work related to your target profession — e.g. as a nursing assistant while your nursing recognition completes.

What if recognition ultimately fails?

You can often switch to another permit (e.g. § 19c experience route if you meet salary/experience), but there's no guarantee — choose a realistic profession and take the measures seriously.

Recognition Partnership: from Philippines to Germany

Start working in Germany BEFORE your foreign qualification is fully recognised: you and your employer commit to completing the recognition procedure after arrival. Introduced in March 2024 — the pragmatic route for nurses, technicians and craftspeople.

Entry & visa rule: A visa is required. You must obtain a national (D) visa at a German mission before you travel.

Requirements

State-recognised vocational qualification (min. 2 years training) or degree in the training country
German at level A2 minimum
Employer commits to enabling the recognition procedure (training plan, time off)
Recognition application must be filed promptly after arrival; procedure completed within the permit period

How to apply

Find an employer willing to partner
Hospitals, care providers and crafts companies know this route well and often pay for the recognition process.
Sign the partnership agreement
A written commitment by both sides is part of the visa file.

Qualification documents, A2 certificate, contract, partnership agreement.
