Privacy policy

This website is deliberately built to minimise data: it sets no cookies, uses no personal tracking, embeds no advertising or social media scripts, and never asks you to enter personal data. All calculators run entirely in your browser; your inputs are not transmitted to us.

No data protection officer has been appointed, as there is no legal obligation to do so (Art. 37 GDPR, § 38 BDSG).

2. Hosting and server logs

This website is hosted as a static site on Cloudflare Pages (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, with its European establishment Cloudflare Germany GmbH). When you access the site, Cloudflare processes technically necessary connection data (in particular IP address, date and time of access, requested URL, user agent) to the extent required to deliver the pages, defend against attacks and operate the service securely and reliably.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing the website securely and efficiently (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR). We ourselves store no server logs and have no access to personal visitor data. A data processing agreement (Data Processing Addendum) pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Cloudflare. Where data is transferred to the USA, the transfer is based on the adequacy decision for the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (Cloudflare is certified) and, in addition, on EU standard contractual clauses.

3. No cookies, no analytics

This website sets no cookies — neither technically necessary nor analytics or marketing cookies. A cookie banner is therefore not required. No web analytics service is currently embedded either. Should we in future enable cookie-free, privacy-preserving traffic measurement (e.g. Cloudflare Web Analytics or Plausible) that stores no personal data and builds no user profiles, we will update this policy accordingly before it goes live.

4. Calculators and local processing

The calculators on this website (e.g. net salary, Wohnberechtigungsschein, Chancenkarte, citizenship) run entirely locally in your browser. Your inputs — such as salary, family status or age — never leave your device and are neither transmitted to us or third parties nor stored. The “copy link” feature merely writes your inputs into a URL in your clipboard; whether you share that link is up to you.

5. Affiliate links

Some external links are affiliate links (marked “Sponsored” and rel="sponsored"). When you click such a link you are taken to the provider’s website (e.g. Feather, ottonova, Wise, N26, Lingoda); referrals may run through affiliate networks such as AWIN or financeAds. Only upon that click does the provider or network process data (e.g. referrer, time of click) to attribute a commission. No such processing takes place on our website itself; we embed no partner tracking scripts. The respective provider is the controller for processing after the click; see its privacy policy for details. See our affiliate disclosure for how we handle affiliate links.

6. Contact by email

If you contact us by email, we process your email address and the content of your message to answer your enquiry (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR; where a contract is being initiated, Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR). Correspondence is deleted once it is no longer needed for that purpose and no statutory retention obligations apply.

7. Your rights

You have the right vis-à-vis the controller to access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), e.g. the authority of your place of residence or that of the controller.

8. No automated decision-making

No automated decision-making, including profiling, within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR takes place. You are under no statutory or contractual obligation to provide us with personal data; however, the website cannot technically be delivered without the connection data described in section 2.
